Funding
Funding flows only on approval: no approved review, no payout. This page covers goals, pledges, bounties, and payouts.
Funding goals
Projects set yearly funding goals (e.g. $60,000/yr) — usually derived from a revenue forecast. Goals surface in the funding dashboard only for public projects. If you set goals on a non-public project, the app warns you: flip the project to public or the goals stay invisible.
Goals are informational — they set direction and show progress. They don't move money by themselves.
Pledges
Funders pledge amounts toward projects or specific tasks. A pledge is a commitment, not a charge — money moves only when work is approved.
- Pledge to a project to support its overall direction.
- Pledge to a task to fund that specific piece of work.
Task bounties
Tasks can carry a bounty: the amount paid to the contributor when the task is approved.
Bounties can be split across payment milestones — e.g. 50% on first review pass, 50% on final approval. Milestones are useful for larger tasks where you want to pay for verified progress along the way.
Payouts
When you approve a task:
- The bounty (or the completed milestones) becomes payable.
- The contributor's wallet is credited.
- AI assignees never receive payments — their work is unpaid by design.
If you request changes instead, nothing is paid. The contributor reworks and resubmits; payout happens on the approval that finally lands.
Wallet
Contributors hold balances in their wallet and can withdraw to linked accounts. The wallet shows:
- Current balance
- Pending payouts (approved, not yet withdrawn)
- Payout history per task
Owners see payout status per task in the project's Funding section.
